　　Swinburne Senior Secondary College is a government secondary college which caters for students in their senior years of secondary education. We offer VCE, VET, VCAL and SBA courses in a setting that enables students to focus their learning around the values, attitudes and needs of young adults. Students choose to attend Swinburne because we offer a broad range of VCE studies. They tailor their courses to suit their educational and personal needs and interests and are enriched by the diversity such a broad range of studies allows. By choosing Swinburne our students create our greatest strength, our student body. The diversity our students bring to the college creates a learning community characterised by individuality, acceptance of difference and the refreshing reconnection with education that a change in setting engenders.

　　Students come first at Swinburne. Staff are constantly delighted by the independence, creativity and thoughtfulness of our students. The learning partnership is dynamic and cooperative. Students are able to access teachers and facilities when they ned them and respect the sponsibilities such opportunities allow.

　　As specialist VCE teachers many staff are involved with the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority as curriculum consultants and writers as well as taking positions of responsibility across the state in VCE policy, assessment and professional development. This experience ensures that they are well qualified to guide students to success at the highest level.

　　Staff are able to focus on strategies which work well in the climate of mutual responsibility that can be fostered by our unique setting. Teachers work in partnership with students unencumbered by the rules and restrictions necessary when younger students attend a school. Library, classroom and specialist workshop resources are tailored to the specifi c needs of the young adult student.

　　Because all students have made the choice to enrol at Swinburne we fi nd that this alone is a powerful motivational force. Students respond to the challenges of senior secondary education because they choose to, thus developing not only their education but also their ability to work with maturity and initiative, attitudes very important in both further education and the workplace.

　　Swinburne is large enough to offer a broad range of VCE, VET, VCAL and SBA courses, yet we are also of a size where individual needs can be accommodated and the welfare of students can be ensured.
